Mom eventually gained weight, not walking anymore, and was catatonic so we brought her home (we figured to die), but she's revived and gone back to her original weight!. She walks all over the place with her walker again surprisingly. If you need an institution Belle Oakes should be one to consider. Mom .was as happy as she could be, especially visiting with residents and Aides. This is Independently owned by Esther N. and her husband does the maintenance with heart, his own mom recently living there.. If there was a problem that needed dealt with we went to Marianne (administrates) and Jeannie (Nurse) to figure things out. It was pointed out to us before we came that many places have other levels outside of facility because they are owned by someone outside, not independently owned like Belle Oakes. Therefore Marianne and Jeannie are the hands-on in people overseeing it. They have a big job. I found them accessible. Esther, an RN herself, has beautifully seen her vision become reality. I admire her desire to do something meaningful with what she received after her parents tragic death. They would be honored. God Bless this Assisted Living institution.
There were family meetings occasionally with much of the staff for communication. They also invited family to banquets with our loved one which were beautifully done.
Actual workers are amazing but administration just cares about the $ and not the resident
My mom spent 8 months at Belle Oakes and I also worked there when it was beginning. My husband and I have been honored to lead church services along with another pastor for 10 yrs.The Aides, Housekeeping, Office Personal, Transportation, Physical Therapists, Activities, and Kitchen Staff are team players with compassion and sensitivity. I chose to visit mom daily as I always had planned, if my parents went to an institution, and was welcomed by the employees.
My mother and her husband live at Belle Oakes and are so pleased with the living conditions here. The resident apartment rooms are spacious and safe and offer just the level of independent living they desire. The staff is very vigilant, professional and friendly and are so dedicated to the residents. My parents feel like they are part of the family here. I have visited, eaten several meals here and even stayed overnight with my parents. My step father is instrumental in planting, tending and harvesting in the garden which gives him a sense of pride. When searching for a home with everything you need remember to check out Belle Oakes. You will be very satisfied with what you find.
